01 / THE DESKTOP VIEW

A calmer way to
manage your crypto.

Ledger Live Desktop is companion software designed to help people manage supported crypto accounts alongside a Ledger hardware wallet. The desktop interface brings portfolio views, account activity, and supported actions into one workspace.

Think of it as a control panel—not a replacement for careful review. Available coins, services, and features may vary by device, region, and software version. You remain responsible for understanding each transaction before approving it.

02 / GETTING STARTED

Set up thoughtfully.
Take it one step at a time.

A few careful checks at the beginning can help you avoid confusing lookalike apps, rushed setup, or preventable mistakes.

01

Find the official source

Navigate to Ledger’s official website by typing its address yourself. Download Ledger Live only from the official download page or the official app store listing for your platform. Avoid sponsored lookalike links and unsolicited messages.

↗
02

Install and check for updates

Choose the version for your operating system and follow the on-screen setup. Keep your computer’s operating system current, and install application updates only through the app or official source.

⌘
03

Connect your hardware wallet

Connect and unlock your device, then follow instructions shown in the app and on the device screen. Your recovery phrase should never be typed into a desktop app, website, or shared with anyone.

▣
03 / YOUR WORKSPACE

Useful tools, one
considered view.

Get familiar with the parts of the desktop experience you’re most likely to return to.

◈01

Accounts, clearly grouped

Organize assets by account or network so balances and activity are easier to scan. Naming accounts for their purpose can make day-to-day management feel much more deliberate.

⌁02

Portfolio at a glance

Review balances and asset allocation in one place. Market values can move quickly, so use portfolio views as an overview—not as a promise of future performance.

⇄03

Transactions with context

Review transaction details before you approve. Check the destination, network, amount, and fees on your trusted device, not only on the computer screen.

04 / ACCOUNT ORGANIZATION

Give every account
a clear purpose.

Descriptive names make it easier to distinguish accounts at a glance. You might separate networks, personal and shared activity, or long-term holdings from more frequent transactions. Keep names simple and avoid putting sensitive personal information in labels.

Before adding an account or asset, confirm the correct network and follow the on-screen steps. A familiar token name on one network is not necessarily interchangeable with a similarly named token elsewhere.

05 / SECURITY FIRST

Your device is the
final checkpoint.

Desktop wallet management works best when your security habits are part of every session. Slow down for approvals, verify details independently, and treat unexpected urgency as a warning sign.

01
Protect your recovery phrase

Keep it private and offline. Never photograph it, enter it online, or disclose it to support staff.

↗
02
Verify every transaction

Check the address, amount, network, and fees on your hardware device before approving.

↗
03
Be skeptical of requests

Legitimate support will not ask for your recovery phrase. Ignore unsolicited links and DMs.

↗
04
Keep your setup current

Update software from official sources and use a computer with a screen lock and current protections.

↗
06 / SMALL HABITS, BETTER SESSIONS

A few helpful
desktop habits.

A little preparation brings clarity to routine account management.

✳

Start with a quick check-in. Confirm you opened the genuine application and that your device is the one you expect before connecting.

✳

Review fees and networks. Network fees and transaction times can fluctuate. Read the current details rather than relying on an old estimate.

✳

Keep records that help you. Use clear account names and keep any transaction notes in a private, appropriate place.

✳

Pause when something feels off. Unexpected prompts, pressure, or a changed destination are good reasons to cancel and verify independently.

A GOOD PLACE TO BEGIN

Confidence comes from
understanding the details.

Use official product resources for current instructions, supported assets, and release information. Keep your security checklist close and move at your own pace.
